PTFE Syringe Filters consist of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane and a polypropylene overmolded housing. Available in 13 mm and 25 mm diameters and 0.22 μm and 0.45 μm pore sizes. PTFE is the membrane of choice for use with aggressive solvents, liquids, and gases that can attack other membranes.

PES syringe filter membrane has the characteristics of high mechanical strength, it can handle high temperature liquid, and has a large flow rate (better than PTFE), and low protein binding force. With these functions, PES syringe filters can provide excellent performance for biological samples and culture media. The usable pH range is about 3-14.

Features of MCE: uniform pore size, thin texture, low flow resistance, high filtration speed, low absorption, all items are quality tests for filter efficacy and housing integrity. The housing is pressure tested and can withstand pressures up to 75 psig (5.0 bar). Some filters are individually packaged aseptic packaging, certified, RNase, DNase and DNA free, and non-pyrogenic.

Aijiren PVDF filters are high defined pore structure, low nonspecific binding, compatible with organic and aqueous solvents. Please note that Hydrophilic PVDF syringe filters are not compatible with majority of strong acids and caustic solutions, such as dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylformamide (DMF), acetone, ketones, esters, and ethers.

PTFE is hydrophobic and needs to be pre-wetted before being used with aqueous solvents. Used for: corrosive solvents, strong acids, alcohols, alkalis, aromatic hydrocarbons. Not suitable for: water-based samples.

Polypropylene is compatible with acetone, ethyl acetate, methanol, isobutyl alcohol, methanol, and methyl ethyl ketone. Polypropylene is incompatible with cyclohexane, ethers, dichlorobenzene, pentanes, methylene chloride, and trichlorobenzene. Gas, disinfectants or autoclave are recommended to sterilize products made of polypropylene. Maximum temperature use is 135¡ãC.

Polyethersulfone (PES): Hydrophilic, stable in low pH, have low levels of extractables, and exhibit low protein binding, making them suitable for many aqueous and organic solvents. PES membranes allow higher liquid flow than PTFE. Temperature resistant. pH range ~3-14 (sometimes quoted as 1-14).
