Reagent bottle, also known as culture medium bottle or scale bottle, is a container made of glass, borosilicate or related substances, with a special cover on the top. They are designed to contain chemicals in the form of liquid or powder for laboratory use and are stored on cabinets or shelves. Some reagent bottles are amber (photochemical), brown or red to protect photosensitive compounds from visible, ultraviolet and infrared radiation, which may change them; Bottles are called “graded” when they are marked on the side to indicate the approximate (usually 10% error) amount of liquid at a given level in the container. Reagent bottle is a type of laboratory glassware used for storing and dispensing chemical reagents. It is designed to hold relatively small amounts of liquid reagents and is typically made of glass, although plastic reagent bottles are also available.
Reagent bottles have several distinctive features. They usually have a narrow neck and a wide base, which provides stability and prevents tipping. All hybex media bottles include a drip-free sealing ring as well as a standard blue polypropylene (GL45) sealing cap. Bottles are also available with green, purple, white and yellow caps, or in an assortment pack containing two of each color.

Bottles typically come in two colors: clear and amber. Clear bottles are ideal for displaying items and amber bottles protect the contents from light. Sizes range from 30 ml (1 ounce) up to 20000 ml (about 5 gallons) and the larger ones may be used to store preserved biological specimens in the lab. The large ones also make excellent terrariums or miniature aquariums.

The glass of the reagent bottle has a low thermal expansion coefficient and can be autoclaved repeatedly (resistance to 140¡ãC). With scale and white enamel marking area, it is sturdy and durable.
